I filmed this video of the sea lions who have taken over pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco Bay.
Fortunately, they are protected by Bay Marine Life Protection.
UNFORTUNATELY we have a problem with enforcing some animal protection laws here in the U.S. Although food raising farms are supposed to protect animals that they raise for human consumption, rules keeping the animals safely within those guidelines are often ignored and this is often due to cost and trying to 'cut corners'
Some animals are raised under abominable conditions, and often when they arrive at the slaughterhouse they are treated cruelly, whilst they wait for slaughter.
Americans are basically animal lovers, and so I urge those of you who care about needless suffering, to contact your congress representatives to ensure that laws to protect these animals humanely, are continually enforced, and that inspections are made to farms, raising animals for human consumption, and slaughterhouses, on a regular basis. The same protection afforded the above sea mammals, should be given to all animals.
